Data-science comparison

Historical thermodynamic analogue

Compare a date you choose, or find the closest profile at the matching local hour and calendar date from each of the previous five years. The automatic search uses small individual archive requests for reliability.

Scope: Historical model/reanalysis data describe the environment, not confirmed severe reports. A close analogue indicates similar ingredients only; it is not a probability or a forecast of a repeat event.

Analogue result

Awaiting a historical date

Load a location forecast, select an hour, then choose a historical date or ask the app to compare the matching seasonal dates from previous years.

Similarity-
Historical signal-
Risk alignment-
This comparison uses available model/reanalysis thermodynamics and does not verify that storms occurred on the selected historical date.
